The only reason I chose the omnibus for this was because all the books in this series are equally good for guided reading and which one you pick can be more effective if it matches your class' interests better. The Magic Treehouse books are about a brother and sister who find this treehouse that transports them into different times based on the book that they read in it. They are transported all sorts of times and places and they are able to have an adventure while also learning. These make good guided readers because they are not long but are good for students to see how the author finds a way to present information and facts in a fun way. Students can learn all sorts of things from science to history. The books also introduce lots of different vocabulary that is relevant to the topic of the book which can make them useful for building reading skills with students when the book comes across words they don't know how to read or say or they don't understand the meaning of. This makes it good for teaching the value of context clues or the thumb out reading strategies.

These books are about two kids who always journey onto a new adventure whenever they enter their magical tree house. Usually the tree house puts them in the past era and usually gives historic information. These books can be used to talk about certain events that happen in history as well as entertaining. ( )

Magic Tree House series show adventures of Annie and Jack. Students of all ages enjoy reading these adventurous books. Also, I have seen these books in classroom leveled book boxes for the students for silent reading.
These books could be used to teach free writing and imaginative writing. ( )

Jack and Annie have such wonderful adventures together. This annotation is for the book Dinosaurs Before Dark, the first book of the Magic Tree House series. This book is where Jack and Annie first discover the magic treehouse and its powers to take them back in time to places all around the world. This time it took them to prehistoric times, where they learned about dinosaurs and might have possibly found a clue as to who the treehouse belonged to when Jack found a medallion with the letter M engraved in it. These books are funny, addicting, and are great for lessons. They have real facts in them and makes it more interesting for kids to learn when they have characters to go on these adventures with. This book would be a great starter for a lesson on dinosaurs or prehistoric times. ( )
