A decent short collection of Edgar Allan Poe's poetry, though I confess there was little other than 'The Raven' which really struck a chord with me. 'To F–' and 'To M. L. S.' were good, and 'Annabel Lee' reminded me of something Nick Cave might sing, but the others had too much stylized lyricism to suit my own personal tastes. ( ) Dramatic readings of The Raven or the Bells is how most people know Poe's poetry. He is the goth's goth and his flowery verse with naiads and nymphs and grave worms feasting on the lost beloved hasn't necessarily aged well, though they were the style of his age. These poems remain sad and sweet and despairing, rather like him. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

The macabre and haunting elements of Poe's poetry have always intrigued and his poetry is a journey into a world beyond normal consciousness. The book contains both texts and commentary. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
