Arthur sees a dog toy for sale on the television but he does not have enough money to buy it. He tries to find money and finally he gets a job helping out his neighbor clean out his garage. Arthur makes enough money to buy the dog toy, and finally purchases it. When he gets home, it takes 5 hours to assemble, and then malfunctions and breaks. Arthur says he is never going to let another commercial take his money again, until he sees an ad for a magic disappearing box. Good book for learning to work hard for something you want to buy. But also thinking about your purchases before you make them.

This is a good book to read to show that things are not as nice as they may seem. Arthur saw something on tv that he wanted and he worked really hard to get it. Once he went to the mall and used it the first time it broke. Things are not always what they seem. Arthur was upset he worked so hard and wasted his money. This would be a good lesson to read to 3rd grade. ( )

Arthur watches an ad on TV and decides he wants to buy a Treat Timer. His parents won't give him the money to buy it, so Arthur must find a job and earn the money to buy the Treat Timer. He saves his money, and buys his new toy. He is so excited, but then he finds out that it doesn't work like he thought it would. He learned just how hard it is to earn money, and he learned to save it instead of spend it on things he sees on TV ads. ( )
