The discourse, Garments of the Soul, explores the difference between tzaddikim and beinonim through the backdrop of two Biblical tales involving spies - sent by Moses and Joshua respectively. ...the eternal manifestation of the story in which man "sends spies" to assess and conquer "Canaan" - the body and animal soul - and transform them to holiness, "the land of Israel". Jericho is thus man's behavior.. thought, speech, and deed...the rest of the land of the seven nations is man's.. emotions... Jericho is merely the "lock" of the land... ultimately, in the Messianic ear, the three parts of the mind will also be transformed.. land of teh Keini, Knizi, and Kadmoni - promised to Abraham for a future inheritance..also included is a translation of the talk, 28 Sivan: A Day of Strength, which reintroduces the above concepts detailed in "Garments", and explains the meaning of 28 Sivan, its relation to the giving of the Torah, the event of the spies, and the subsequent month of Tammuz. (To explain, 28 in Hebrew is Chof Ches, which also spells Koach, which is a Hebrew word for strength.) This was the day on which the Rebbe arrived in the U.S. in 1941.
