This is a hardcover compilation from Schafer's earlier compilations from paperbacks and record albums. He collected gaffes from television and radio. The time range here is from the 1940s to the early 1970s. Some of them aren't funny anymore, such as those that are supposed to be shocking as they reference premarital sex or children out of wedlock, but many others are still hilarious and would induce fines and public outrage if they occurred on modern television.

A few of my favorites:

A contestant on Groucho Marx's "You Bet Your Life" TV program indicated that he and his wife had sixteen children. Groucho asked, "Why do you have so many children?" The man replied, "Because I like my wife." After a pause and a particularly long drag on his ever-present cigar, Groucho said, "I like my cigar, too, but I take it out sometimes!"

Bloopers are not just limited to American radio and TV stations, as Channel 7 in New Brunswick, Canada found out. A dandruff commercial was not quite finished when a second commercial cut in with:
"Risdan was made to control dandruff, and does control dandruff. How can you improve on that? ..."
"... Spray it with Pam! Also good for frying pans."

"See the adventures of Bobin and Ratman this afternoon at 4:00 P.M..... Robin and Batman!"

Heard on the BBC: "As Big Ben's cock strikes eleven... it's time for the news!"

NEWSCASTER: "... and Lesbian Forces today attacked Israel... Lebanese!" ( )

A compiled collection of bloopers made by those working in tv and radio. Kermit Schafer has included the best of all the bloopers he has collected over the span of his career. Unfortunately lacks the same comedic effect that one experiences when they actually hear the goof and see the reaction of the person who created it. ( )
