Being a mother is a difficult task not only for humans, but for animals as well. The journey of a mother penguin teaches how penguins gather food, find shelter, and lay eggs. This book would be a great one for my students to read to teach them about the penguin species and about the sacrifices their mother has made to give them life. ( ) This informational non-fiction book discusses the survival story of a mother emperor penguin's struggle to reach the sea, find food, avoid predators, and make her way back to her mate and their newborn chick before they starve. Alan Marks' luminous illustrations highlight the harsh conditions and stunning landscapes of Antarctica. I really like the text of the book. There is a lot of good information without the book being dry or boring. Markle is very descriptive and has enjoyable descriptions. The watercolor paintings are fabulous in this book. There is always the risk of having cold drab illustrations for Arctic, and Penguin illustrations, but Marks did a wonderful detailed job with his watercolor illustrations. With blues and pinks he was able to make what is usually a very cold atmosphere a little more personable. This book about Emperor penguins and their babies is beautifully illustrated and beautifully written. It has a lot of information about the birth and growing of a baby Emperor penguin. This would be a good book when teaching about different animal mothers to younger children- how some mothers lay eggs and some mothers give birth to live babies. A mother's journey is about emperor penguin takes care good of their children. When Antarctica's winter came, female penguin pushes out her egg. She and her hushand have to take turns to bring food to her new born chick. But they have to spend 50 miles away to find the closet food in the open sea. She or he brings her/ his food feed the chick. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
