A travelling supper party - held in a different house every month - seems like the perfect way for village neighbours to socialize. Lucy wants to introduce new fiance Mike to her neighbours. And getting out in the evening might help her friend Chrissie to focus on something other than that baby. Maybe she can even do a little matchmaking for her sister Jenny. And it's the perfect excuse to meet the fashion model who's stolen her friend Maggie's husband. Of course, the supper parties don't quite work out the way Lucy meant them to . . .… (plus d'informations)

I installed myself all ready to read a good book and I ended up reading a great book!

Our main character Lucy is looking to "do" something a little different and to meet some new people. The solution? she and her friends alternate the responsibility of holding a dinner party at each other's houses.

This is actually a creative idea I thought. It can make for some interesting stories to tell - and I was right.

What follows is a hilarious, moving and completely unexpected turn of events - as the dinner parties go on, Lucy's well thought out plan completely unravels and in the course of this unravelling, we find out that in life - even the best plans goes awry!

I particularly loved the scenes with Lucy and her sister - and I thought the scenes where Lucy tries to match up her sister - with, as it turns out, a loser are hopelessly hilarious.

The writing is touching and author King brings a down home, comfy feelings to her dinner party descriptions. Its as though you are actually in the kitchen - in the corner listening to everything first hand.

Although this novel touches on some sensitive issues - particularly those of brokenhearts - I ended up with feeling very pleased and very good after reading this novel.

This is written by someone in the UK, so some of the terminology left me scratching my head at times, but so what? It was worth it - I really, really enjoyed this terric book.

Now, if only I could have a dinner party with so much action going on at the same time! ( )

Supper Club is the engaging story of a group of friends who get together once a month for dinner and socializing at a member's house. The story is less about the food and more about the intimate friendships and complicated relationships that arise.

I really enjoyed this entertaining, warm-hearted book. Sophie King has a real knack for developing intricate characters with many dimensions, making them more believable and likeable. By the end of the book I felt like I had made a whole new set of friends! Lucy, the main character was my favorite. She struggles through everyday life trying her best to take care of her family and friends, but when her sister revels a terrible secret everything falls apart. I loved all the little mysteries scattered throughout the book. What is Maggie's past with the mysterious bachelor Dan? Patsy is hiding something from Anthony, and what was the real cause of Luke's death? They really kept me turning the pages!

I would highly recommend this book to fans of Katie Fforde or Sophie Kinsella. I will be putting Sophie King's other books on my TBR list! ( )
