Mr Fox frequents the farms of Farmers Bean, Bunce and Boggis in order to feed his family. But the farmers have had enough and plan to dig the foxes out of their den. The fantastic Mr Fox comes up with a plan to dig deeper and further and when the farmers surround the hill - a plan to dig through to their farms in order to keep everyone fed. This was an amusing little tale of the foxes, badgers, moles and weasels joining forces to outwit the farmers. The book promotes teamwork, loyalty and compassion for others. This was okay. I didn't love it but it wasn't totally ridiculous like some of Roald Dahl's books are. 3 stars for target audience, 2 stars for me. 2023 - 1970’s Immersion Reading Challenge Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl (1970; 1988 ed.) 90 pages. READING LEVEL: 4.1 AR POINTS 1.0 (4th grade…more or less) A very cute, short and easy high-paced little read full of excitement that children will really enjoy. Although the animals steal, drink hard cider and prefer to stay hidden underground, that’s okay because they are underground animals and that’s just what they do to feed their families. It’s better than the three mean and nasty farmers: fat Boggis, squat Bunce and skinny Bean winning this war and killing all the underground animals. Kids will love that the animals win! aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Trois riches fermiers se liguent contre Maître Renard, qui décime leurs poulaillers. Ils attaquent la colline avec deux pelleteuses et creusent jusqu'à former un grand trou en attendant que la famille Renard sorte affamée de son terrier. Or, Maître Renard a une idée habile. I love all of Roald Dahl's stories, especially for reluctant readers because they're so fun and a little edgy. Mr. Fox is no exception. It's a little shorter and little less inventive than some of his other books, but it's still great.
One small word of caution: if and when you share this with little ones, be prepared for them to ask you what "drunk" means. ( )
