The plot was a nice follow in the Cinderella canon, while keeping it unique and true to the Egyptian way of life in the time of Pharaohs, such as the Cinderella being greek, standing out from the fellow Egyptians. Also, the illustrations are a beautiful addition to the story, enhancing the environment and story. The big idea of the book is to not judge someone by their standing or skin color. This interesting take on the original cinderella is about a slave girl who has the typical slave life. She is bossed around, made to work, and doesn't have much. But one day, her luck completely changes. She receives beautiful red slippers and she falls in love with them. Unfortunately, one of her slippers ends up getting swooped away by a bird. The bird takes the slipper all the way to King Pharaoh! The King is determined to find who the slipper belongs to, so he sets out to find his new queen! This is a great read for middle schoolers who are familiar with the original Cinderella story because it has a different cultural twist. I enjoyed reading this book. I wasn't aware of the many version of Cinderella before reading this book. The illustration were great. Cinderella had her slipper taken by the falcon, who dropped it in the lap of the Pharaoh who felt the gods gave it to him as a sign. He went through ever measure to find his bride. I love the Egyptian spin on the original story. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

This Egyptian spin on the classic Cinderella tale was initially recorded in the first century by a Roman historian and is retold here by folklorist Shirley Climo.
