Immigration at current levels is turning Britain into a country very ill-at-ease with itself. It imports poverty, increases social tensions, crime, public health problems such as TB and HIV, and creates parallel communities. Anthony Browne argues for a zero net immigration policy and demolishes many of the myths used to justify mass immigration, such as: Britain does not have a declining population or workforce and does not suffer from generalized labor shortages; immigration is no solution to an aging society because immigrants grown old too; Immigration boosts the total size of the economy but does nothing to boost GDP per capita. It depresses the wages of those in the lowest income groups; Immigration at current levels increases overcrowding in one of the world's most densely crowded countries, adding to congestion and the housing crisis; It deprives developing nations of their most educated and energetic citizens Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
