I really enjoyed the third book in the series, so I look forward to reading this one, too. I hope it has more of the great illustrations!

I thought this was a great book! It isn’t a typical “monster” book (no blood, guts or gore). It’s more about a kid’s struggle to figure out who he wants to be. I love how Mr. Lubar writes humor into the story. The book is filled with sarcasm. Norman gets bit in the nose by a werewolf and his friend responds “I saw that on television, wolf’s are always bringing down their pray by the nose”. He definitely knows how to keep a reader interested in his book. Norman is always finding himself in situations like when he goes to the carnival or receives an amulet that controls his changing into a werewolf. Norman is a cool character that the reader can really relate to. The author uses his first person perspective to do this. In one case Norman says, “I hate it when people talk during a movie, jabbering and chattering”. The way the book was written for students to see a kid’s view of changing into a werewolf. I like how he doesn’t realize he’s a werewolf at first and its nice touch. There were a few black and white illustrations scattered throughout the book that were a nice addition to the story. I liked a little visual and it allows the reader to see what him changing from a boy to a wolf is like. The author puts Norman into a tight spot. He has to make a decision between being a werewolf and not. The main idea of this story is to show the reader that you can make your own decisions
