In this book a baseball player becomes sour because he gets boo-ed all the time, so he becomes the Chief Executives Officer of America and bans baseball. This makes it so that it is winter all the time. Georgie is born and has baseball flowing through his blood. One day in the factory, he calls out a baseball phrase and is arrested. He makes a deal with Boss that if he can strike him out, he can be released and baseball can come back. Georgie does indeed strike him out, and the seasons return as does baseball.
This book is a decent example of a fantasy book because the some of the events in the book are unrealistic and some of them are unlikely. For example, it is unrealistic that the removal of baseball would cause it to be winter all of the time. However, the idea of someone becoming a dictator and removing something from the country just because they don't like it is unlikely, but could still happen under certain circumstances.

This book was very enjoyable. Baseball is my favorite sport and this was a great story! It was a story of a young boy who saved baseball. The text did not integrate too much with the illustrations like many of David Shannon's books do, but the illustrations were superb. For example, much of the text was separate from the illustrations. So you would read and then examine the illustrations. This book won the New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year Award and rightfully so. The artwork was beautifully executed and portrays a real history in it. Baseball is America's past time and everyone should check this book out. ( )

Baseball is made illegal by a retired player turned powerful tycoon. The absence of baseball has changed everything. A small boy with incredible abilities is able to defeat the tyrant and save baseball which in turn saved everyone. As a huge fan of baseball I couldn't imagine the world without it. Its interesting to see how different everything becomes without the all american sport. ( )

Georgie did not know about baseball, but he was gifted with it. He can't keeps his gift inside and he gets into trouble with it. Because of his courage and talent Georgie was able to help people to get back their good and relax time that they got forgotten. The thing we think small and not benefit are usally the essential things that help us live happily and lively. ( )
