Although I couldn't agree for a moment with Hawkins's conclusions about the astronomical alignments and 'computer' functions of Stonehenge, this is a fascinating account, as illuminating about the world of 1970s archaeology as it is about Stonehenge itself. Hawkins writes in an engaging style and a surprising portion of the book focuses on myths and legends surrounding Stonehenge and the archaeology of the monument. No prior knowledge of Stonehenge is assumed but some understanding of astronomy is expected and I found the key chapters on the astronomical theory difficult to follow. A recommended read for those interested in the development of archaeological ideas around Stonehenge. ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique

There is a wealth of information in the positioning of the stones, in the successive master plans of the structure and in the choice of the site itself. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
