In this book, Bear was upset that Groundhog moved out, so he started treating Chipmunk poorly because she moved in. Bear wasn't so happy about having Chipmunk around. He didn't want her to take Groundhog’s spot in the friend group. For example, in the book, Bear stated, “Why does Chipmunk alway have to come with us?” The other animals said “Some things are better with two.” The other animals wanted Bear to like Chipmunk and give her a chance, but Bear still stuck to his ways. This was until Chipmunk weeded Bear’s garden for him out of the kindness of her heart. Bear thanked each and everyone of his friends for weeding his garden, but they all said it wasn't them. When he came home, he noticed that Chipmunk was in his garden. Once he realized it was her, Bear was happy, and finally accepted Chipmunk and thanked her. I loved the moral of this story and how it teaches kids that it is okay to make new friends. This book was a good read, and I plan on having it on my bookshelf in my future classroom.
