He orders his apprentice, Darth Maul, to hunt the traitor down. ut he is too late. The secret has already passed into the hands of information broker Lorn Pavan, which places him right on the top of Darth Maul's hit list. Then, in the labyrinthine alleyways and sewers of Coruscant, capital city of the Republic, Lorn crosses paths with Darsha Assant, a Jedi Padawan on a mission to earn her Knighthood. Now the future of the Republic depends on Darsha and Lorn. But how can an untried Jedi and an ordinary man, stranger to the powerful ways of the Force, hope to triumph over one of the deadliest killers in the galaxy?… (plus d'informations)

Interesting middle book to the trilogy. We get to discover what happened to Captain Typho (Padme's Body Guard) after the emperor took over. Bonus we get to see Vader's first hiring of a Bounty Hunter too. There are also some good set ups for the conclusion in volume three. ( )

Much better!
Jax has matured enough to stop being a whiner. The gang ends up trying to find out who the murderer of a famous Camaasi artist is, because his assistant wants help getting off world.
Vader hires a jedi-killer to hunt Jax.
That doofus Captain from the prequels, Typho, is on some vendetta to avenge Padme, cause apparently he was in love with her. That story arc was just LAME!

Better than the first book, but definitely NOT a buy" book.

Update-The SFBC brought out a hardcover omnibus edition of this trilogy, and yes, I bought it..." ( )

I found this second chapter of Coruscant Nights to be a little bit better than the first book. The characters have 'gelled' at this point for me and I think that Reaves does a good job working with this ensemble. There's good interaction between members of the whole group as well as a lot of good scenes with members of the group that split off from the others. Aurra Sing is one of my favorite bounty hunters, so it was need to see her story tie-in here. I thought that the Typho story was ok. It struck me, though, that the age difference between Typho and Padme was pretty big. Of course, you could say the same thing about Padme and Anakin in Episode I.

I liked the new characters in this book, too. The main story progressed at a healthy clip and the other periphery stories made good progress, too. I'm very much looking forward to the third book! ( )

Okay, time for the review: First off, Street of Shadows didn’t catch my attention the way the first book in the series did. One of the reviewers over at TheForce.Net said that the book was a bit lacking in the ‘noir’ department, but that didn’t matter to me, because I’ve never actually read any ‘noir’ so I have no way of making a judgement because of that. This book seemed to me as if a collective breath had been taken, as if the characters were taking stock of themselves and their situations before the final act. A nice change to the typical Star Wars Books out there. More of a crime noir saturday matinee then a space odyssey. A fun must read. ( )
