Jayson felt almost as if he'd been catapulted into some eerie time warp as he stood and looked out over the ocean. It had been Drew's idea . . . to stop first at the place they'd come with their mother fewer than two years earlier. And Jayson couldn't deny that for all the grief and heartache he was taking with him . . . his musical abilities had grown through the experiences he'd found in Oregon, and his heart had been touched in ways that had changed him forever. Friendships and relationships formed and forged through the fiery furnace of experience have left Jayson Wolfe wiser, sadder, and anxious to embrace new hopes and dreams. In the life he is reconstructing, his music is as essential as oxygen, and failure is unimaginable. But does life ever go as planned?… (plus d'informations)

Jayson Wolfe is a musical talented person who can go beyond the limits off the piano, guitar, drums and mostly singing. He ends up moving to Oregon for safety reasons with his mother. His mother's name is Leslie and his older brother's name is Drew. They are both musically talented. When they arrive in Oregon Jayson meets a girl that inspires him to do anything possible. He also is friends with a guy name Derek, who is Elizabeths brother (Jayson's girlfriend). They go far beyond imaginable. Drew, Jayson, Derek, and Elizabeth. They end up quitting from a tragic death that occurs in the Greer family ( who are Elizabeth and Derek) Derek dies in a car crash. It changes Jayson's life forever especially Elizabeth's. They end up leaving each other apart because Jayson and Drew have a dream of becoming a band in L.A and Elizabeth has a dream growing up with a family and going to college in Boston. This all happens in "The Sound of Rain".

My opinion about this book is AMAZING! This book is so fascinating. I love the author and the way she puts things in order to make it reality and great! She explains in deep detail about the ability that Jayson has with music and his life. She has such a powerful idea in this book. This book is so amazing! ( )

This is a heartbreaking story, more dismal than any other Stansfield book, but the reader has hope for a happier day sometime in the future. Jayson Wolfe protects his mother from the ongoing attacks of his alcoholic father, which causes her to finally leave. Jayson and his brother go, but have to leave their precious piano behind. His crush on a new girl at his new school, Elizabeth, takes an unexpected turn when he unknowingly befriends her brother whom he works with. The boys form a band, but tragedy breaks them apart and music separates him from Elizabeth, leaving him running to L.A. and a hope for fame.
