Even though they have all come to school in holey clothes, Marvin and his third grade class manage to impress their surprise visitor, the President of the United States. It is "hole day" at Marvin Redpost's school. Marvin and his classmates, even his teacher, are celebrating by wearing clothes with holes in them. Little did they know someone very important was going to show up at their school today. The president makes an appearance, and the students get the opportunity to ask him questions. When one of Marvin's classmates asks his question before he gets the chance to, Marvin panics. He comes up with an even better question and ends up on the news! Marvin's parents will not listen to him when he gets home. They order him to go straight to his room. While they are watching the t.v. they see their son on the news! The author uses humor and everyday relatable occurrences to add to the series of children's chapter books. Realistic Fiction: Marvin is going to school thinking it is a regular day but little did he know it wasn't. Right after he and his classmates did the Pledge of allegiance his teacher got called to the office. She was gone for a long time and when she came back she had a puzzled look on her face. She announced19 that the president of the United States was going to come into the classroom and ask some questions. All the kids were nervous at first but once he should up it was all good. It is spirit week at school, more specifically it is hole day and everyone in the school is wearing holes in their clothes, including the teacher and the principal. Marvin’s class learns that they are to have a surprise visitor that morning, the President of the United States. Mrs. North tells everyone to write down a question to ask the president. Several news people come in preparation for the president. Marvin is doing a math problem at the board when the president arrives. He has come to talk to the class about what it means to be a good citizen. The students all come up with good examples and then they are given an opportunity to question the president. Marvin asked what he should be doing now in order to be president in the future; the president tells him to keep doing what he’s doing: being a good citizen and working hard. Marvin hopes to be just like the president when he grows up. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
