A cute, self esteem enhancer for little girls plus provides an awareness of great women. I'll bet Sally Ride never realized in how many children's books she would be featured. A bit over the top with the braggodocio of a bad rap song. OK, all rap songs. I'm the best, greatest, etc... hmmm. Awesome for your budding flygirl. ( ) Very timely book for us, since my 3yo repeatedly insists, "My name is --" and then produces an entire different persona, different name, different age, etc. She's got several of these personas. This book features "Isabella" who pretends to be "Rosa" (Parks), "Sally" (Ride), "Marie" (Curie), and a bunch of other famous women from history. So as soon as we read it, "Isabella" joined my daughter's cast of personas. I LOVED THIS! This is an informational picture storybook about a young girl named Isabella, who apparently has either the best teachers around or the best mom around who serve to educate this brilliant little lady about some of the most famous women in history. Sally Ride, Annie Oakley, Rosa Parks, Marie Curie and Elizabeth Blackwell are all showcased in this brilliantly illustrated book. What I love is that it teases the reader with a one line blurb about the famous woman in question THEN when the reader turns to the back of the book, they have a short biography as well as photo of the woman. Genius! It is really an empowering tale that bolsters self esteem as the young girl, Isabella, eventually incorporates all of the labels she gives these famous women throughout the book into her own self image. This is an important lesson that I believe ALL little girls should learn. That lesson is specifically that nobody can stand in their way of achieving their goals if they set their minds to it and believe that they are as capable and as talented as anyone else. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
