Chargement... The Sinnerpar Tess Gerritsen
![]() Actuellement, il n'y a pas de discussions au sujet de ce livre. I wasn't sold on The Sinner as I was with The Surgeon and The Apprentice. While the latter two had elements of romance, The Sinner seemed to be flooded with them. It's not to say I'm not a fan of romance - I have read a couple of Nicholas Sparks novels in my time - but I really don't like to see it in my crime fiction. Of course I know that romance is a character builder and it's must if you want three-dimensional characters, but the focus was on it - at least for me - quite often in this novel. From the uncertainty of Rizzoli's situation to Maura's ex-husband returning to after a three-year estrangement, it seemed too much like a TV crime drama where aspects of their case mirror their persona lives. But Gerritsen doesn't fail me with her prose. Still compelling as ever, The Sinner is much a page turner as its predecessors. I only hope that the next book in the series, Body Double, lives up to her work. This is a great suspense series. I was really happy with the direction the characters went in this one. Originally I avoided these books because I didn't like the covers but now I kind of can't get enough of them. Gerritsen kan verkligen bygga upp en spänning i sina böcker och den här är inget undantag. I denna bok utvecklas också karaktärerna och vänskapen mellan Rizzoli och Isles. Another of Tess Gerritsen’s Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles book. I really like this series. I also have watched the TV program with the same. She helped with all of this. Back to the Book. Rizzoli is called in due to some nuns being found dead at the chapel. When she and Isles are investigating they find out the youngest nun was pregnant. Where is the baby ? No where to be found in sanctuary. They begin a larger search. Also how did the young nun become pregnant? Who killed these nuns? They are trying to find out all of this. They start investigating the sanctuary. Another woman is murdered in an abandoned building. They are unable to tell who she is due to how badly she was mutilated. So now they are waiting on the forensics for this. Is she part of this same crime with the nuns ? Then Rizzoli finds out some ancient history of the sanctuary. The killer is called The Sinner. A large company is involved due to an accident that occurred and the doctor working for this company was aware of this accident. He went out and Checked on some of these people who also had some lepers in after the accident. He thought they all died. He had to take care of the bodies. All of this happened in India. And it was covered up He was unaware that someone lived and made it back to the states after the accident occurred and could tell what happened over there in India. So as usual multiple things going on but it all runs together after a bit. The Sinner tries to kill Maura but you will have to read to see what happens and why all of this is being done. I do not want to give away the whole story. Interesting as usual. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Not even the icy temperatures of a typical New England winter can match the bone-chilling scene of carnage discovered in the early morning hours at the chapel of Our Lady of Divine Light. Within the sanctuary walls of the cloistered convent, now stained with blood, lie two nuns - one dead, one critically injured; victims of an unspeakably savage attacker. The brutal crime appears to be without motive, and the elderly nuns in residence can offer little help in the police investigation. But medical examiner Maura Isles' autopsy of the dead woman yields a shocking surprise: twenty-year-old Sister Camille, the order's sole novice, had given birth before she was murdered. The disturbing case takes a stunning new turn when another woman is found murdered in an abandoned building, her features obliterated.Together, Isles and homicide detective Jane Rizzoli uncover an ancient horror that connects these terrible slaughters. As long-buried secrets come to light, Maura Isles finds herself drawn inexorably toward the heart of an investigation that strikes closer and closer to home, and toward the dawning revelation - too shattering to consider - of the killer's identity. As spine-tingling as it is mind-jolting, THE SINNER finds Tess Gerritsen in peak form. Beneath its layers of startling insight into the souls of its characters, and the richly wrought depiction of the everyday war between good and evil, beats the unstoppable heart of an irresistible thriller. This was a great book. I always enjoyed reading books by Gerritsen. It was a great mystery about the two deaths of nuns in their place of living in a convent. The characters were well developed and the story flowed right along.
When Detective Maura Isles and Dr. Jane Rizzoll are together working the investigation the reader will acknowledges right off that they are a great pair. They bring so much suspense to the book that you don’t want to miss anything.
The part that enhanced the story is when they found out that one of the nuns had just given birth to a baby. The suspense and mystery throughout the story was intriguing. Gerritsen held the story to its highest point with her characters and events she created and as the reader it was intriguing to the very last page. (
