It's kind of scary to think that there could actually be people like that out there. The book is excellently written, very vivid in detail, so much so that people with weak stomachs should really stay away from this one, but it is executed very well. In some ways it keeps you guessing from the beginning, but there was one significant detail that was just a little too predictable. Also, the characters are introduced a little too quickly at the beginning, which leads to a little confusion, but it cleans up nicely as the book progresses. All in all, a great crime thriller that really delivers on all ends. Lots of characters introduced in the beginning but at least they did play a part in the story even the future Court judge. A little confusing as they went thru different times and settings. The last part of the story really tied it all together. Although I figured out part of the mystery I wasn't quite right. Surprised that Betsy was so thorough in the profession but could miss something so major. Story moved quickly. Amazed at how charming Lake could be. The killer was so non-caring it got creepy. I found this on my bookshelf and was amazed that I hadn't read it. I thought I'd read all of Marolin's stuff. Guess not. In Oregon, women are missing - pampered women who are wives of financially successful men. In their place are left a black rose and a note saying 'gone, but not forgotten'. It turns out that nearly the exact same scenario had been played out ten years before in upstate New York. There is clearly a connection. This is a story told with exceptional craft. And it's a great story. What a treat to find it just sitting on my shelf. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
