This is the first half of Garth Ennis' version of Dan Dare. As has been done before it takes us to a retired Dare, world weary and with a lot of his idealism lost to time. But this version is still clearly Dare.
Once again the Mekon rears his bulbous head and once again Dare steps up to do something about it. But this time he is very much a metaphor for and older, more socially responsible Britain bringing its old fashioned values of respect and hard work to the aid of modern Britain.
Possibly a bit of a belaboured point but there are some excellent actions scenes and it is well worth reading. ( )
