the story of the black men who were pulled off a freight train in paint rock, alabama in 1935. they were charged with the rape of two white women who were riding the same freight train. although they were evidently innocent they were jailed and some of them tried and convicted and sent to the pen. the story reveals the pregidice of whites for blacks at that time in the south. my hill family came from paint rock alabama in about 1910 to montague county texas. (

Introduction: On March 25, 1931, nine black men and boys were pulled from a slow freight train in Paint Rock, Alabama, because of a report that they had been brawling with a group of white men.

The stock market crash of October 29, 1929, financially destroyed the lives of thousands of people.
