Lights. . .Camera. . .

With painstaking care, he "casts" his victims, each woman resembling an Alfred Hitchcock star, each killing echoing six of the legendary director's films. The only clue he leaves behind is a gruesome video of his handiwork. But the Video Killer shoots the death scenes as he believes they should have been doneâ??with total realism. . .

Kill!

A former actress, Allison Rocca knows her husband, Tony, a screenwriter, has been extra busy lately. And news reporter Katy knows her ex, Chief Detective Sam Ladera, is desperately hunting the Video Killer. Still, each woman senses something unusual about the men's behavior. But as they attempt to find the truth, they unwittingly draw closer to the lens of a calculating madman searching for his next leading lady. . .… (plus d'informations)

Being familiar with Fluke’s Hannah Swenson series, I was excited to find that to wrote thrillers and Video Kills is not a disappointment. Hard to put down and full of suspense that leaves the reader guessing until the very end. Originally released in 89 this rerelease has some issues as in references to some of today’s actresses yet then the technology and lack there of remaining from the original release. At times some of the characters are easily mixed up as to whom is who however with the imagery and mystery of what’s going to happen next these few flaws can easily be overlooked. ( )

It took me three weeks to finish listening to Video Kill. I've read several of Ms. Fluke's Hannah Swensen mysteries, so I thought I would like this book. Perhaps I would have liked this one more if I hadn't finished listening to Val McDermid's far superior Splinter the Silence just two days before starting Video Kill. Both feature multiple character viewpoints, including that of the serial killer. Both cases feature a common theme obscure to the police, but figured out by a non-police (or in Fluke's case, more than one) character.

Where Ms. Fluke's efforts fell short, in my opinion, is that I didn't care much about any of the main characters except Allison and Eric. I often wanted to shake Tony and Katy, but Tony more.

The good news is that the book improves during CD six. The last three CDs give listeners a pretty decent series of comic errors. Katy and even Tony improve. There's some suspense. My advice is to not give up on the book too soon.

Dog lovers are out of luck, but Eric's cat, Mr. Al, is present to amuse cat lovers. ( )

Video Kill by Joanne Fluke
Wanted to read this book because I've read many other mystery/cooking books by her and loved them all.
This one is a lot different and deals with the movie industry. Learned so many background things by reading this book.
The real killer has photographed all the murders and now the movie industry is remaking them for the tv screen. Many of them are fashioned after Alfred Hitchcock shows.
Book follows Mr. Brother who is an accomplished person who films scenes-he also has a troubled past of death...
Many are trying to find out who the killer is and some are accusing others til they realize they have alibis and now they know where to go to find another death in progress, they hope they
are not too late. Love all the other circumstances that come into play...
Book also includes a sample of the next book in the series, Winter Chill..
I received this book from The Kennsington Books in exchange for my honest review ( )
