Aphra and her father live on a remote island and run a resort there. Aphra is surprised that they have so many visitors in the off season, including the mysterious Smith family and Mr. Watts, who seems as desperate to see her father as her father is to avoid him. Aphra begins to suspect that there is more to the Smith family than they are saying as she spots her father carrying a file on them. When the Smith's teenage son, Adam lets it slip that they know Aphra's long missing mother, things heat up quickly.
The mystery of the Smith family moves this story along, but the real mystery of where Aphra's mother is and why she didn't accompany her and her father to the island will be left unsolved until future books in the series. Overall, Death by Bikini is a good young adult mystery and a promising beginning to a mystery series. ( )

Plot: This book had mystery, suspense, some espionage, and even a little romance, but as mystery novels go, this one was pretty predictable. I figured out most of what there was to know in the first 20 pages of the book, yet that did not stop me from wanting to continue reading because just as I thought I had everything figured out, there was a new twist to throw me off the trail. What kept my interest the most was the mystery behind the Mulo family which I found more compelling then the actual murder mystery aspect of the plot. It wasn’t too fast paced which was great, but it was a very fast read.

Characters: The characters were great and I really liked both Aphra and Seth. Aphra has this fearlessness to her that is uncommon in 16 year olds, she is willing to endanger herself in order to save the lives of almost complete strangers. Seth was sweet, charming, and also a bit fearless. Aprha and him are constantly saving each other. I feel bad for both of them because all they want is to be normal teenagers which is nearly impossible because one is constantly on the run while the other lives on a secluded island away from everything and everyone. I can’t wait to see where their relationship goes, or if it goes anywhere at all.

Cover: The cover is cute and I really like how the bikini parts are cut out so that the page underneath can be seen. The pictures on the bottom include a gun, fan, sunglasses and palm trees which tie in a lot better than just having a random bikini on the cover.

Overall Impression: When I picked this book up I was looking for a quick, fun read and that is exactly what I got. If you want something short to pass the time on a long flight or car ride, this is the book for you. ( )

This was just kind of meh for me. I have a bundle of the three books in the series, but I don't think I'll be finishing them. ( )

Aphra and her dad has lived the normal, better life on the amazing tropical island. With her mom out of the picture. That is until a mysterious family shows up with the worst fake accent on earth and ofcourse a dead body washing up on shore right after.
Linda Gerber has covered her bases to write this awesome mystery. With the action on every page, I doubt anyone would put this down till the last page.
Aphra was used to her resort life, it's like all year summer vacation but without the school crushes and friends ofcourse. When her mother suddenly left her and her dad, she tried to accept it and live on without her. But when a mysterious family checks in to the resort with a fake southern accent, Aphra sparks an interest. Espeacially in their son, Seth Mulo. Questions come to Aphra's mind non- stop, who are they ? why is dad acting so weird ? Soon, Seth is hanging around her, before they can go further then a "hello" the dead body of a curent rockstar guest's on and off again girlfriend is washed up on shore with a bikini thats on a little too tight. Deathly tight actually. Soon Aphra is thrown into a death game. Shes got her heart tied to Seth's but also a gun trained to her head. As she rushes to save a guy and his family she barely knows, she finds herself almost losing her dad and finding her mom again. As the knots hang tight, her life from before loosens and becomes something else. Death By Bikini would be highly recommend to those who enjoy a fast acting mystery with a dash of romance. ( )

Aphra, most girls would envy. She lives on a tropical Island with her family where there are always plenty of visitors. Seth arrives who she woudl like to start knowing a litlle better. A famous rockstar's girlfriend turns up dead and she has been strangled by her bikini top. Is it a coincidence that Seth turned up the day before the girl was murdered??? ( )
