She wears bunny slippers, pajamas, tutu's, and so many more weird things to school. But as time goes by her classmates are getting use to her unusual style. In class Mrs. Pidgeon is beginning to teach the students about poetry. But an unfortunate tragedy happens to Mrs. Pidgeon mother Ms. X. The class will need one of Gooney Birds ideas to make things better. I like this story because it's showing that people can be different and that's okay because sometimes we need unique people or ideas to make things better. ( ) Lois Lowery does a lovely job illustrating a strong female lead named Goonie Bird, who is creative, intelligent, funny, kind, and excited. Goonie Bird and her class are writing poems after being inspired by the poems written by the mysterious Mrs. X. Lowery does a great job a creating a supportive and kind relationship between the teacher, Mrs. Pidgeon, and her class. When a tragedy occurs the class comes together to write the most important poem they have ever written thus far. This book has a great mixture of humor, kindness, and sadness. This book would be great for young children who are coping with a death. This book would also be great for kids who are interested in poetry. This book would be a good supplement to a poetry curriculum. This fourth book in the much-loved Gooney Bird series teaches about both poetry and life. Gooney Bird is up to her usual strange and delightful shenanigans, even while she struggles with learning about different kinds of poetry. Although the book deals with the reality of a loved one's death, its pacing and tone soften that blow. This is a good chapter book for early readers. The humor and language also make it an excellent read-aloud book for the younger grades. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
