This volume collects materials around the work of Moshe Beregovski, the foremost ethnomusicologist of traditional East European Jewish music. A companion volume to the 1982 anthology (recently reprinted by Syracuse University Press), it presents a translation of Beregovski's unpublished book manuscript on the klezmer music of East European Jews, as well as sections of musical scores of short and extended musical selections, and a brief inventory of opening phrases. The included CD contains tunes recorded on 78 rpms, as well as some that have been recently used and newly commissioned.
