It's been twenty years since Western State Hospital was closed down and the last of its inmates reintegrated into society. Francis Petrel was barely out of his teens when his family committed him to the asylum, after his erratic behavior culminated in a terrifying outburst. I really enjoyed this book. Yes, it reminded me somewhat of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest but the actual story was totally different. I didn't know what was going to happen next. The ending was slightly hopeful although, sadly,not all the characters survived. ( )
Quite a thrilling thriller. A gripping story well written and told. The plot gets faster at the end and it is difficult to put it down. I would highly recommend it for those who like psychological thrillers. The descriptions are so good that it is easy to see a movie in your head while reading it. ( )
