In my opinion this was a good book because it tells the readers about fire stations in an engaging way. In the book Corduroy's class goes on a field trip to the fire station where they see the fire trucks, kitchen, bunk room, and exercise room. The class also learns to stop, drop, and roll if their clothes ever catch on fire and what fire fighters wear so they don't catch on fire. I really like this book because it has flaps on each page that the readers can lift which helps to keep them engaged. I feel like the illustrations under the flaps really help to enhance the information being given in the book. For example, when the class sees the rescue truck and learns that rescue trucks are filled with equipment that the firefighters can use if someone is hurt, you lift the flap on the medic truck and see first aids kits, oxygen tanks, and other medical tools. This was an informational text and gave the audience a lot of information about fire trucks, fire stations, and fire fighters. For example, when the class first arrives at the fire station they see the hook and ladder truck. The book goes on to say, "The ladders help the firefighters rescue people on roofs or up in high buildings. The hooks pull down burning ceilings so the water from the hoses reach the fire." The main idea of this story is to promote fire safety and show the audience the different parts of the fire stations. ( )

In my opinion this is a great book. This book is about Corduroy and his classmates going on a field trip to the Fire Station. The illustrations in this book were very detailed and allowed the reader to interact with the story. Each page had a flap on it with a hidden picture/character behind it. This will help to keep students engaged while reading. I liked how the book included facts about real fire stations, such as where the trucks are kept and how the engines are checked daily for proper function. I liked how this book can be used for many different lessons such as when learning about the community helpers, before going on a field trip, or what to do if there is a fire. Another great thing about this book is that it broadens perspectives. Students may find this book very interesting and start to check out more books about firefighters. The big idea of this story is about a field trip that a class goes on, and how the fire station is run by many hard working people. ( )

This book is not just about a bear going to the fire station, it is about safety. This book tells us about safety all around the house. And what to do if there is a fire. The best part of this book is that everywhere you look, there is a flap to open. The flap could be a door, a poster on the wall, a window, a cabinet, whatever - this is a very interactive book.

Most of the characters in this book are animals like Curduroy. There is one little girl in his class. All of the characters are always smiling and having a good time teaching and learning about fire safety. In the end, Curduroy and his friends get to take part in the parade! ( )
