The story is a good one for little ones who have a blanket or stuffed animal they have to take everywhere -- it's about a little girl with her favorite blanket, and how she grows out of it. The story and illustrations are very gently humorous, and adults reading it can enjoy it, too.[return][return]But what I particularly enjoyed were the soft-spoken responses to sexism offered by the mom. The baby is assumed to be a boy; the mom corrects. The father asks if blue is a boy's color; her mom says, "No, it doesn't really matter." It's rare to even see these common experiences of parenthood depicted; it's even rarer to see them handled and challenged; and I've never seen it done in such a subtle, non-didactic way. This is a great book to read to a kindergarden or 1st grade class onthe 1st day of school. It is about a little girl who got a blanket when she was born that she always took everywhere. It made her feel safe. By the time she was old enough to go to school her blanket had been through a lot and she only had a little thread of the blanket left. She took it to school and lost it. She decided in the end that since she was getting older she did not need it anymore anyway. I love this story because it can help kids see that they do not have to be scared about things. They might have also had to leave something at home or have to leave something at home. They will see that they can be strong and have fun without it. Also, you could go around the room before youread the story and ask if anyone has a blanket or stuffed animal they take everywhere. Kids love to share things about themselves. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Inseparable from her blanket, little Julia carries it with her everywhere until both her blanket and her need for it gradually disappear. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
