This book is from the point of view from a boy named Tom. As conveyed from the title of the book, Tom calls his grandfather "Poppy, Pop, Grandpa, and Gramps." Tom and his grandfather are extremely close and do a lot of activities together. The read books, make funny faces, play "tickle pickle," At the end of the book, Tom says how his pop always lets him know that he loves him.
I absolutely loved this book! Any one at any age can really benefit from reading a simple book like this one, which is why I checked off the K-6th grade collections. Anyone can understand that the message of this book is focused on loving your family, especially your grandfather, who will always love you and be there for you. Even though there were very few words on each page, I loved how the book illustrated black and white pictures of Tom and his grandfather spending time together. I couldn't stop smiling as I was reading the book and analyzing the pictures. My favorite picture of Tom and his grandfather is when they are walking together, and Tom has his arm around his Grandfather's while Grandfather has his arm on Tom's shoulder. ( )
