This story is told in very few words and it has a rhyme scheme. The words swirl around the pages instead of being in a fixed position on the page. The end of the book even included a recipe to try at the end of the book. Reaction: The drawings in this book were very large and beautiful which I liked. I also enjoyed that there was a positive image of an African American family in which there is a male still around in the child's life. Extension: 1. The students can go home and collect family recipes to share with the other students in the class so they can try foods from a different culture. 2.
