This is a fast paced book very far fetched easy to read.
Henry is a reporter for one of the big New York newspapers.
A lone gunman is killing famous people and leaving quotes Henry has written at the scene.
Henry really wants to crack this case he is beaten up by the murderer and his ex girlfriend Maya is nearly killed.
The killer is a loner bit of a weirdo kid who believes he is the offspring of Billy the Kid.
Eventually he tries to kill Henry's new girlfriend Amanda, Henry stops him and saves the day.

THE GUILTY begins with the death of a woman --- an icon, actually --- named Athena Paradis, a pop tart flavor of the month who is senselessly cut down by a sniper on the eve of what was to be her jump to major stardom. Parker is on the story but is startled when evidence on the scene suggests that the assailant is attempting to communicate directly with him.

Another murder almost immediately follows, and the evidence --- a bullet from one of the deadliest rifles ever manufactured --- indicates that the solution to the deranged killer's identity may well lie in the past, enshrouded in myth, folklore and legend.

This was a clever blend of traditional thriller and history. Great characters, well played-out plot, tons of action and suspense... you couldn't ask for better. ( )

Surprised me again! The first book by this author, The Mark, managed to surprise me more times than any novel I've read in recent years...yet for some reason, I didn't expect the author to be able to do so twice in a row - and still he did! A great follow-up to his debut novel. At one point, I literally gasped out loud and had my mouth hanging open for a good 10 - 20 seconds as I took in what had just happened. The ending was a little fantastical, but if you suspend doubts or are given to flights of fancy, it won't be a problem for you to digest and "believe". This author's going on my long-term watch and "must read" list, joining Jonathan Kellerman, and William Berhnardt, among others. ( )

I'll definitely go back and pick up the first book in the series and look forward to the next. ( )
