Annja Creed jumps at the chance to join a fellow archaeologist on a quest to find a relic. But she's not so thrilled about northern Siberia, where they are hoping to discover something buried in the long-undisturbed soil of Russia's frozen terrain. When they reach the town of Jakutsk, Annja is put off by its gray landscape and highly superstitious inhabitants. They claim they are being hunted. Then one of the villagers goes missing. The locals blame the Khosadam, a ghost of a fallen goddess said to ingest the souls of the departed. But there are no fresh graves. She is now hunting the living. When Annja seeks to destroy the apparition, she discovers an even more horrifying truth--and may have hit a dead end.… (plus d'informations)

Title: The Soul Stealer Series: Rogue Angel Author: Alex Archer Rating: 2.5 of 5 Stars Genre: Paranormal Pages: 284 Synopsis: Annja goes to Siberia[?] with an old friend who is an archeologist. His trademark is that he bicycles to each site. So Annja, Mr Friend and his bodyguard all bicycle in. They get trapped in a small village due to a snowstorm and come across a monster that might be a fallen goddess. Russian Mafia are involved, as well as forbidden Cold War science and a deranged scientist. My Thoughts: While I enjoy these books as Action/Adventure books, the Paranormal aspect is so badly done that it really takes away from my enjoyment. Take this book for example. Annja has a sword that she can pull out of the air, her mentor is 500 years old, she has seen and fought demons and yet she won't believe in the possibility of a goddess. Won't, not can't. This wicked smart woman simply won't accept the evidence right in front of her eyes. And that bugs the heck out of me. Either go Paranormal or not. Stop going back and forth between hidden science or the supernatural. And Elijah came near unto all the people, and said, How long go ye limping between the two sides? - I Kings 18:21 That pretty much sums it up. I'm giving this series another couple of books to smooth this out, but if not, I'll drop it. " ( )

Annja Creed is a part-time archeologist, part-time tv host of Chasing History's Monsters, and full-time adventurer.

Annja meets her friend and fellow archaeologist Bob in Siberia to assist him on investigating a remote area. But on their journey, they get sidetracked by a local legend. In the small village of Jakutsk, they learn of a creature named Khosadam, which the villagers claim is a ghost of a goddess that eats human souls. When one of the villagers is missing the next morning, Annja, Bob, and his guard-for-hire Gregor go investigate. But instead, they uncover a truth even more terrifying.

This latest installment is pure action and excitement from beginning to end. While hardcore Rogue Angel fans may be disappointed that there are no actual archaeological digs or artifacts in this story, there is a huge mystery and plenty of creepy bad guys. And Annja kicks butt as always.

Leaning on the edge of the horror genre, The Soul Stealer will keep readers enthralled and on the edge of their seats until the very end. ( )
