I'm often asked how this project came about. It started as a thought; an idea that expanded into action as many artists shared the same vision. In the end the project exceeded all expectations, becoming the decorative artisan's version of "We are the World." Over a hundred top artists worked together in "concert" to fund a House to be built by Habitat for Humanity-New Orleans for Katrina victims, therefore we named the project the ''The House that Faux Built." An international birdhouse painting contest was added to aid the animals made homeless by the hurricanes and to insure that any artist who wanted to participate in this project could do so. Once funded, many of the artists and volunteers will go to New Orleans to work on the Habitat house. A portion of proceeds from the sale of this book will go to Habitat-New Orleans to continue this work, with the remainder reimbursing past costs of keeping the house unoccupied and helping to fund future projects. It is also our hope that this book will increase public awareness of the incredible advances in faux and decorative painting since the sponging fad of the 90's and serve as a catalyst for ideas and further advancements in decorative painting.
