This is a big, brash book with a lovely binding and one of those little cloth bookmark thingies, which automatically gives it some props in my book. It showcases scores of images that Miller did for this seminal 'Sin City' series, which I must say I very much enjoy. Unfortunately, many of those images are frames out of those very comics (albeit quite a bit bigger). There are also a number of design sketches and many of the covers, but there is really no 'new' material. I received this as a gift, and am glad for it, as it is a lovely collection. However, unless you are a ravid Miller fan or a dedicated completist, I really wouldn't recommend it. Go out and get the comics instead, and enjoy all of that art in context. Best to know the faces of your neighbor, lest the become your enemy. Peace out, friends. ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Frank Miller's Sin City has set the gold standard for crime comics, both for Miller's unflinching stories and for his visceral, powerfully charged art. To honor the artist and his groundbreaking work, Dark Horse is proud to return Frank Miller: The Art of Sin City to print. An astonishing look into a master's process, containing pieces both published and unpublished, and featuring items ranging from preliminary sketches to promotional images, this beautiful artistic showcase holds everything a Sin City fan, or connoisseur of fine art, could ever hope for. Includes rarely seen art and an introduction by art historian R. C. Harvey! Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
