The first bonus in this volume is an introduction by Gene Colan instead of Stan Lee. Colan discusses the influence of movies on his moody style and pays tribute to his fellow Silver Age artists.

As the last title to be introduced in the initial Marvel Age pantheon, Daredevil reached a level of maturity faster than many of its contemporaries and the 10 issues contained herein demonstrate this.

One of the more bizarre plot twists of the period is introduced here as Matt Murdock attempts to throw his suspicious colleagues off the trail to his identity as Daredevil by introducing a fake twin brother Mike Murdock who is cast as Daredevil's 'real' identity. Lee and Colan have plenty of fun with Mike as an absurdly over-the-top 60s hipster - so does Matt before his double double-identity starts to make his life too complicated.

Also included is Daredevil Annual #1 which takes the same concept as Spider-Man's first annual, the all-star villain team. Elektro is common to both but the Emissaries Of Evil (Elektro, Leap Frog, Stilt Man, The Gladiator and The Matador) are not up to the standard of The Sinister Six (The Vulture, Dr Octopus, Sandman, Elektro, Kraven The Hunter and Mysterio).
