Beautiful illustrations, imaginative fantasy (as the young boy helping out in his grandfather's studio imagines himself in the prints he is helping to colour), and at the end of the book a detailed section on how etchings are made by hand. Bonus: all the illustrations in the book are actually hand-coloured etchings made by this very process. ( )

A fantastic book to anyone who enjoys art. The story is about a young boy who has begun to work in his fathers etching studio, which is a unique way to make drawings and art. The storyline is pretty simple, but you can tell this book is all about the artistry, which is amazing. Etching is a very cool way to do art and is not that taxing and most people can easily accomplish a very simple etch. ( )

Grades 2 to 6. Great insight into the art of etching. Would be very cool to use with an Art lesson involving etching. Lots of information along with unique illustration. All illustrations were etched. ( )
