In my opinion, this is a good book for children who are just starting school. The characters were well-developed; especially the main one. Even though it was said from a third person point of view, I understood how he was feeling about starting school without his mother. The writing and language flows well since it is not choppy and the reader is able to follow along with the plot of the story. With the plot, the reader was hoping that Albert would get used to school as the book went on. I wanted to keep reading to see how his first school day went. The illustrations of the book fit with the text on each page. For example, there was an illustration of the main character crying as he was watching his classmates play “mommy and baby” with stuffed animals. When this was happening, Albert was sad that his mommy was not there with him. The reader can look at the illustrations and text in order to know why Albert is crying. This book allows students to remember times where they may have had a hard time going to school because they were going to miss someone. The big idea of this story would be that school isn't so bad once you get used to it. School may be difficult for children at first, but when they give it a try, they end up liking it in the end. Albert starts his first day at school. He has a hard time adjusting and asks that his mother stay with him until he's ready. Throughout the day Albert and his friend Brendan learn that adjusting to school is hard and that they miss their moms. They start playing with the other children and are soon learning that the first day of school is not as bad as they thought. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
