"Maggie Does Not Want to Move," is about a boy Simon who does not want to move, but tries to convince his mom that his sister Maggie is the one who doesn't want to move. Simon is unsuccessful in convincing his mom that his sister doesn't want to move, so he decides to go say bye to the people in his town. To try the situation, Simon tries to convince his mom to let them stay with someone else, but is again, proven unsuccessful. The mother shows Simon all the cool new things in the town, and he finally decides that Maggie would be okay with moving.

Simon tries to convince everyone the Maggie has the problem with moving, when it is really him. He starts off trying to come up with different reason why they cant move, but finally comes to accept the move. After experiencing his new town, Simon finds the positives of moving. ( )

Maggie Doesn't Want to Move is about a little boy name Simon who has a younger sister named Maggie. His family is moving and he insists that Maggie doesn't want to move. But we start to understand that it's Simon who doesn't want to move. He names many things that Maggie is going to miss like the playground, the school, the teachers but it's Simon who is going to miss it. Finally after going to see the new school, the new park, and the new house, Simon thinks Maggie is going to like it here. This is not uncommon for a child to move at least once in their lives so some children could relate. I'm lucky that I've never had this problem. I've been in my same house since I've been born. The only time we were close to moving was when Katrina hit. But, this book could show children that sometimes moving is for the best and could be a great thing. The house, school and park could be 10x better than what your old neighborhood had. Simon changes at the end of the book when he realizes it may not be such a bad thing to move. At first, you understand that he thinks it will be the worst thing in the world to move but after seeing his new school, house, and park, he realizes he was wrong. The illustrations in the story are cute and I'm sure students will love this book. ( )
