Wormwood is the anti-Christ, no way around it, his dad is Satan and his demonic powers help him fit right into New York. His best friend is Jesus, who is a black, mentally-challenged man that just isn't performing many miracles these days. The pesky Armageddon is coming right up, and it doesn't look like Pope Jacko is going to be any help in stopping it.… (plus d'informations)

Feels a lot like Preacher but is a much simpler tale. Liked the idea and the execution. ( )

Ah, Ennis and Burrows. You guys...

I don't think it's a secret at this point that, after Preacher and The Boys, I'll read anything Ennis puts out, and I'll give him a hell of a lot of latitude in anything he does.

Which brings me to Wormwood. It's offensive to the point of uber-parody, which actually (at least for me) paradoxically lowers the offensiveness quotient. Not that anything sacrilegious will ever offend me, because nothing can be more offensive than what the Catholic church allows every damn day in real life. But I digress...

Anyway, is this sacrilegious? Hell yes. Is it offensive? Very much so, to the right audience. Is it dumb? Yes. Is it infantile at times? Yes.

But, buried in amongst the dick jokes and gratuitous swearing and sex, is there also a solid argument on the sheer stupidity of buying into blind belief in the Bible? Yes. Is there interesting points on the problems with organized religion as a whole? Also yes.

So, while it did go too far over the top for me, from a storytelling standpoint, I also appreciated the messages that Ennis and Burrows were able to seed into the storyline as well. ( )

Hilarious and imaginative series from Garth Ennis. Loved it. ( )

The comic was shocking, for its depection of God, Satan, Heaven, Hell
and all that.. but I don't know if it was very good. It didn't have
all the great lines Preacher had, and obviously none of the heart. I
bought it for shock, and thats what i got. ( )
