I enjoyed the real-life photographs used in this book - they help students to connect with the book. I found this very informational and useful in the classroom setting. Children can identify with the story because it talks about children, and can be intrigued by what they have in common with elephants. I found this to be more of a non-fiction story. Katya teaching children how to paint in school and Elephants how to paint in the jungles of Asia. She gives many facts about an elephant but most importantly that they can be taught how to paint to. Everyone can paint, everyone paints differently, and at the end of painting you need to go wash your hands. Great book at comparing student humans with student elephants Author Katya Arnold established a painting school for elephants to raise money to support them. The books is an effort on her part to show us the humane side of these gentle giants. It starts with on interesting opening remark "I teach in two schools. One is in the city and the other is in the jungle." Throughout the narrative, elephant activities are compared to human activities. For Example during school, just like human children, elephants also throw tantrums, or whisper to each other. The pictures support the text. They are large and cover most of the page. One of my favorite is the painting of a flower by an elephant. I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the painting. A fun and informative book that can be read to children as young as 4-7. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
