While the murder/espionage plot has definite potential, there are too many implausible twists and turns.

Tony and Alicia have great chemistry, but the number of sex scenes is excessive and Laurens' purple prose is starting to grate on the nerves. I obviously need to take a break from her writing. ( )

La Temporada está a punto de empezar y Anthony Blake, vizconde de Torrington y miembro del club Bastion, se convierte en el objeto de deseo de las damas casamenteras de Londres. Pero para disgusto de todas ellas, sólo la joven viuda Alicia Carrington logra captar la atención del vizconde. Alicia, una de las invitadas al baile organizado por la madrina de Anthony, es descubierta en el jardín de la mansión a los pies de un cadáver y con una daga en la mano. A primera vista, parece la principal sospechosa del asesinato, pero el instinto le dice a Anthony que ella es inocente. Y aunque Alicia no quiere que él conozca su secreto, no le queda más remedio que aceptar su ayuda si no quiere terminar en la cárcel. Gracias a sus contactos y su buena posición, el vizconde consigue hacerse con el control de la investigación y defender la inocencia de la joven. Pero ¿logrará convencerla a ella de que las razones que le impulsan a protegerla van más allá del honor de un caballero?

It was a little annoying at first and the it got intriguing. Thankfully it was exciting at the end!

Bastian Club #2. Anthony Blake, Viscount Torrington, falls instantly into lust with a lady holding a knife over a corpse. Blackmail, treason, love, and eventual marriage in high society. It was a surprisingly good mystery. I enjoyed Alicia ‘Carrington’, her debutant sister, and their 3 younger brothers. Jill Tanner does a decent job with voices and accents. This was a predictable effortless book.It helped to pass the time while I did indoor and outdoor chores. ( )

Spike and Myka come together when the mother of a child he didn't know he had is dying and wants him to have his cub. Myka doesn't want to let the boy go at first but quickly changes her mind. Their attraction was a bit fast for me.
