I'd never heard of this actress or even the TV show she's on. Hey I read books not watch TV. Anyhoo, this was quite an interesting story of this young girl's life. She made bad choices even when she had the opportunity to make better ones. She had people at home who loved her. She wasn't totally screwed/disadvantaged from the time she was born. She chose to take a bad path. When she ends up in prison for murder, she turns her life around. I admire her guts in changing her life and telling her story and I hope that she continues on a good and healthy path. ( ) I saw Snoop on Court TV. She was in prison and said to her interviewer she was going to write her life story. And she did! It was very stirring. For those of us to whom ghetto life is a foreign country, she talks of drug-dealing and death with much the same everyday demeanour an Italian might talk of life in Rome - something we don't know but nothing fascinating, nothing extraordinary, at least not to them. Although it was ghost-written, an authentic voice comes through and its a really good, fast and believable read. I would have givn it 4.95 stars - losing 0.05 because the last few pages, which aren't really part of the story, are a bit of a let-down. Four stars for succeeding in its modest mission: clearly and warmly reveal the personality and voice of this actor who was cast so serendipitously to play herself in The Wire. Her voice in the book is a nice balance between "street" and sweetness and humility. This is a quick read, even for me, the world's slowest reader. Most of the chapters are three pages long or less. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

While Felicia is a brilliant actor in a truly chilling role in The Wire, what's most remarkable about "Snoop" is what she has overcome in her life. Snoop was born a three-pound cross-eyed crack baby in East Baltimore. Those streets are among the toughest in the world, but Snoop was tougher. The runt of the ghetto showed an early aptitude for drug slinging and violence and thrived as a baby gangsta until she landed in prison after killing a woman in self-defense. There she rebelled violently against the system, and it was only through the intervention of her mentor that she turned her life around. Snoop was discovered in a nightclub and quickly recruited to be one of television's most frightening and intriguing villians. Snoop's is the story of a woman who defied traditional conventions on the hardest streets in America.--From publisher description. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
