This is not just another devotional. This is a superb collection of personal experience from christians serving as missionaries around the world.
The structure is stories divided in 366 days (includes Feb 29th) and you are suppose to read one story per day during a full year. But the stories are so good and touching that you are always tempted to read much more than just one.
One particular story that touched me deeply was the "We All Scream for Ice Cream!" This particular story describes how we should depend completely on God. If we trust in him, he will provide all our needs. Most of the time what we need comes as a direct answer to a prayer.

This book was written by Beth Moore in 2010 and published by Thomas Nelson and they were kind enough to send me a copy for reviewing through their Thomas Nelson Book Review Bloggers Program.

A yearlong devotion book to give inspiration and strength. This is stories from those doing things for God, learning for God and giving us a purpose in our own struggles.
The book is organized by topics such as: God's Character, God's Word, Prayer, etc. The stories are written by missionaries and it is wonderful to see God's power all over the world. Each day is written with the devotion, scripture and prayer. A wonderful devotion book dedicated to further your spiritual walk and a reminder to pray for those in the trenches spreading God's word.
Another highly recommended book to add to your daily walk with God.

I recently received the book Voices of the Faithful by Beth Moore to review for the Booksneeze book review program. The book is a collection of missionary stories from many different countries. The book is intended to be read one page a day similar to a daily bread. Each day has a verse, missionary story and then concludes with a prayer.

I have mixed feelings about this book. Generally, I like Beth Moore; although, I find that she has issues with interpretation at times. This book has some of the same issues with it. I really enjoyed reading the missionary stories since I myself was a missionary kid. The stories are very inspiring, and I could identify with several of the stories. I think it is an eye opening book for those who have never had the chance to go overseas and be a part of missions trip to get a glimpse of what missionaries go through in daily life. On the other hand, there were many stories that revolved around dreams. Dreams and visions are not happening in this day and age. It sounds a lot like mysticism to me.

So, if you can overlook the periodic stories of dreams, the rest of the book is good reading.

Voices of the Faithful is a 365 day devotional book with different subject topics each month such as God's word, prayer, compassion & witnessing. Each month has a separate topic, and Beth provides an AMAZING intro to each month. However, the single page daily devotionals are stories from missionaries around the world.

This was the first book I had read from Beth Moore, and I wasn't sure it would live up to all the hoopla I have heard... both good & bad. Voices of the Faithful proved to be both good & bad - The inspiration I received from each of the monthly intros from Beth Moore made the book worthy of a 5 star review. Unfortunately I can't say I loved the daily devotions. As the daily devotions are from missionaries in different locations around the world, I had a hard time putting myself in their shoes. I would prefer to have read more "real life" stories that I could better apply to my everyday life. I would recommend this book, however I'd make sure the reader knew the daily devotions are from missionaries and not Beth. I will definitely be looking into some of Beth Moore's other books. ( )
