I like the use of strong verbs, illustrations, and adjectives because they all work together to bring the story to life. Some examples of strong verbs used include: chittering, droop, hunting, bulging, squeaks, streaks, flashes, zigs, spirals, hovering, creep, and rustling.
The illustrations bring the story to life beautifully. The different overall shades used really show what time of day it is and how dark it gets. For example, whenever the setting is during the day inside the house, everything is bright. When the setting is at night but not pitch dark, the color used is brown. Whereas when the bat is inside the basement, everything seems to be black. This shows a clear depiction of the sequencing and setting of the story.
Adjectives are very important to choose purposefully so that the information you want conveyed in the text to be done successfully. Some adjectives used include: bump, rubbery, alive, loudly, like a rowboat, needle-sharp claw, twisted, warm, and soft.
The main idea of the story is to inform readers of an incident based on a true story. The message shared is to take care of living beings in need. ( )
