William is having a nostalgic attitude toward the good old days with grandma back when she owned the restaurant and made everyone happy. Grandma is old now and her illness is progressing William believes a fly on the wall caused this illness. William's projection of anger on the fly lets us see that kids try to understand the concept of death and grief a certain way through blaming. This makes me think of how I wanted only to simply understand and blame something for my great grandma's illness of dementia and how I did everything in my power to make her back to her old self. This book reminded me of my great grandma and our simply memories. ( ) William remembers how his grandmother was when she had her own restaurant. But things change. The restaurant operates with different owners and under a different name now. Grandma is no longer the one doing everything making everybody happy she's been sick and this little boy tries everything to bring her old self back. Although he expresses anger at the fly he associates with her illness he is thinks about the good old days when Grandma was the way she used to be. In the end he seems resigned as he pushes her wheel chair. The beautifully rendered pictures speak more than the words telling a story of family love and concern as they document the emotional frustrations of the boy and the physical changes in the grandmother. An excellent book to share with children. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
