Andre Norton and Sherwood Smith have collaborated on Solar Queen and Time Traders novels, but never before have they created as rousing an adventure as awaits Ross Murdock, Gordon Ashe, and the rest of the Time Patrol in Ancient Atlantis. In Earth's future, when time travel has become possible, the Time Patrol is the top secret government agency that protects Earth's past, so that our history will not become corrupted by invaders from either our future or from other worlds. For many years, Murdock, Ashe, and other members of the Time Patrol have contended with threats to our time continuum, none more deadly than the alien Baldies, who hate other high-tech civilizations and want to destroy Earth. Evidence of time travel has been found in ruins dating to the ancient world . . . in the legendary realm of Atlantis. So Murdock, Ashe, Eveleen Riordan, and other Time Patrollers deck themselves out as foreign traders to discover whether something is amiss in Atlantis. They find that the Baldies are there, as evidenced by sophisticated, high-tech equipment, whose purpose it is impossible to fathom. As they try to derail the Baldies' plot, the Time Patrollers realize that time is running outon their mission, when Atlantis is shaken by tremors that presage a cataclysm that may be the disaster that sank the fabulous island state. But they must be sure they act to preserve, not destroy, history--and if they're wrong, it'll be too late . . . for them and for Earth's future.… (plus d'informations)

Set pretty much straight after "Echoes in Time", Ross and Eveleen are taking their much delayed honeymoon when it's interrupted by a visit from Ashe so they're prepared when the head of the Project calls them back to headquarters. It seems that an old friend of Gordon's had been excavating round the isle of Thera in the Aegean sea, site of one of the largest volcanic explosions in history. Linnea had found an earring in her explorations - nothing too earth shaking in this maybe, but that modern jeweller's mark marked it out as something special when you consider how deep down it had been found, but what caused Gordon to nearly faint was that he recognised that actual earring - one of Eveleen's, and did that mean that she too lay under the volcanic flows of Thera? And why would the agents be there anyway?! Linnea assured him that there was no associated body, yet. Project researchers projected that if Theran society hadn't been destroyed, it could very well have led to a much delayed technic civilisation. A mission is planned to see what had sent the team back to this apparently pivotable time zone. This time, the team are joined by Linnea, her presence part of her price for supplying the information, and a couple of Greek members of the team. Back in time the isle of Kalliste was showing signs of the impending explosion as quakes rocked it on a daily basis. The team had to actually see if there was a Baldy presence there - quickly answered in the positive, and what the team could do about it - not much, and could they help the Kallistans get away? They do find a solution to all these questions and some they rather wished hadn't been asked, making it back to their home time by the skin of their teeth. ( )

Title: Atlantis Endgame Series: Time Traders Author: Andre Norton, Sherwood Smith Rating: 0.5 of 5 Stars Genre: SFF Pages: DNF Format: Digital scan My Thoughts:
The following quote from the book epitomizes why I abandoned this piece of betraying filth.
"Ross took her face in his hands so he could gaze down into those lovely brown eyes flecked with tiny bits of gold. I could swim in those eyes, he thought..."
The first 4 Time Trader books, by Norton alone, were wonderfully fun adventure stories. These previous 3 books were romance stories that hijacked the characters I had come to like and turned them into romantic caricatures of themselves. The Ross Murdoch of the Time Traders I liked would NEVER utter or think such things as the above. He was a man on a mission. The Time Traders were betrayed by these collaborations and I for one am sick because of it. These last 3 books have now tainted the first four books for me. Good job Smith, you Chamberlain; Hitler would be proud. " ( )

Sherwood Smith is certainly not Andre Norton. This is one of those "Greed" publications riding on the name/reputation of an established author. Another disappointment for readers but remember! The publishing companies NEED that money. They just won't get it from me.

Sorry. One of my pet peeves. ( )

Eveleen's earring turns up in ancient Crete, so Gordon asks her and Ross to come to a meeting.
The only problem is...Eveleen still has BOTH her earrings - HOW did it end up nearly 2,000 years in the past?
Well, there's only one way to find out, isn't there? ( )

I think I finished reading this book, but I'm not sure because for the life of my, I can't remember a thing about it. I think time travelers travel back to Atlantis, to prevent or rescue something/someone. And that's pretty much it.

That speaks for itself. This book is perfectly forgettable and I don't really see any reason why anyone should bother with it. ( )

"Sure we have the new software," Ross Murdock said, scrupulously unaware of his landlady peeping up at him over the tops of her spectacles as she drowned the potted plants for what was probably the fourth time that day...."
