This one didn't really advance anything in the war against the aliens, but it was plenty interesting regardless. The Animorphs team discovers a pair of Andalites living in the suburbs- hidden in plain sight because one of then can morph human. The other is injured- missing his tail blade- and basically considered a worthless cripple in Andalite society. Ax certainly demonstrates this viewpoint, and the team roundly calls him out on it. These two new Andalites have been here all along, since the crash way back at the beginning of the series but never revealed themselves or joined the fight because one is caring for and protecting his friend who is disabled. However there's something suspicious going on- they seem to have some kind of deal worked out with the Visser. So the Animoprhs approach them cautiously, Marco and some of the team sneaking into the Andalites' house to spy on them and figure out what's going on. It ends up the disabled Andalite is being held captive by the enemy, and the team goes to battle an overwhelming number of Hork-Bajir in a derelict train yard to free him, with the new Andalite at their side. After which, the two go back to living in obscurity. Maybe they show up again later, I don't know. It was nice to see this book tackle the issues of prejudice in societies against the disabled, and after this I feel like Ax can never act so superior to the human race again. from the Dogear Diary 'The Other' is the closest we're gonna get to a queer story out of this franchise. Prove me wrong last 14 books, prove me wrong. Anyway, what the story does do is start a conversation about those with disabilities and the importance of compassion. Marco is justifiably pissed off that Ax and Andalite culture have a really harsh stance on any physical or mental disabilities. The more we hear about the Andalites the less reason there is to view them as saving the Animorphs in the end. The story begins with Marco seeing blurry footage of an Andalite in the forest. Is it Ax? It isn't, but with some research the team tracks down an Andalite who was shot down with his flight partner during the battle over Earth at the start of 'Invasion'. The primary reason why these Andalites haven't made contact with the Andalite home fleet or been out to fight against the Yeerks is because of the permanent injury one of the warriors underwent. The devotion of the "whole" Andalite to his "vecol" partner leads him to be apart from the rest of Andalite society. The portrait the ghost writer offers of the well-appointed home of the confirmed bachelor hu-man identity of the Andalite was welcome and obvious gay subtext. The plot itself was negligible, but eh. Animorphs Next: 'Back to Before' Previous: 'The Hidden' A short comment for every book of the series until I get a chance to re-read them. All three of my sons and I loved this series and read every single book - I even bought every single book (most, but not all, used; some through school book sales). I'm excited to re-read them to see how the five main characters develop and to watch all the different transformations again. The best books appeal to *readers* universally - not children versus adults. These may not be quite worthy of the adjective 'best' but they do have that crossover appeal. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Animorphs RM is an exciting series for young adult readers about five teens who are given the power to morph into any animal they touch and then to absorb its DNA. This power is granted them by a dying Andalite alien named Elfangor, who also warns the teens that Earth is being threatened secretly by a group of aliens called Yeerks. This high-interest series is currently a successful television show and will be sure to intrigue even the most reluctant readers. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

Felt like too little detail for introducing two new characters from whom a ton of play could come. ( )
