The first book did an excellent job of setting up the series. It introduced the main characters, made me laugh, made me want to see what happened in their lives. Plus, it is a romance novel. The two main characters were both strong, independent, and stubborn. What all good girly books are made of :) Author Website: http://www.jeanjohnson.net/ Fun, interesting. It doesn't give me the wow effect I got from the Summoning books; on the other hand, I think these books will be more interesting to reread. More variation, at least. This one - the first of the series - has a woman plucked from our Earth dumped into a world of magic specifically to marry one of eight brothers. Because of a prophecy stating how each of them will marry, starting with a disaster following the eldest's marriage, they've been exiled; the youngest, the strongest mage, is matchmaking. The courtship is fiery but the ending is obvious (it is a romance, after all). It is quite erotic and explicit, though a major element is Kelly making sure she's respected as well as wanted. The dirty jokes and double entendres are amusing (she gives at least as good as she gets), but can get a bit excessive after a while. As I said - fun. I have _some_ of the rest of the series, need to collect the rest. On my...fifth reread, I think (I may have missed a few along the way) - yeah, this one (this series) is definitely worth rereading: Oh, that's good. A many times reread, but it's been years since the last - the series has been pestering me to reread it, I finally gave in. I was thinking that, of course, there were great scenes, but the connective tissue would probably be less interesting...nope. It really is that good, all of it. I love the scenes I remembered, that have been popping up recently, but there's lots more that's equally good that I'd forgotten. Romance, rather explicit but in a way that works for me (hot!); more importantly, they are fully-established people with a solidly-built relationship _before_ they fall into bed (after the wedding, even). It's also a portal story - she gets dragged from (more or less) our world into a strongly magical one, and immediately gets tangled up in a prophecy/curse. And it's clear that this is the first of a series; the arc of this story (the romance, and this verse of the prophecy) are resolved, but there's also several unresolved threads that lead to later books in the series. Again, this is a many-times reread; I know what's coming. Doesn't make it any less interesting to see the seeds. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Kind of a Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, except there are eight of them and they are the Sons of Destiny. ( )
