One has been hearing so much, for years, about Nicaragua, but never in a systematic, organized way. This book is good for telling the story, complete with background. Somoza left in July 1979 and the Sandinistas took over. Some of the Sandinistas are not Marxists, but the Marxists are running the Government. It is a very difficult situation, and the Sandinistas did win an election in November 1984--after repeatedly saying an election was not necessary. This was a good book, and fits in with the Current History articles I like to read--this being kind of a book-length article, except this is journalistic rather than professional.
